In September of 2002, Ian had just moved to downtown Toronto to finish his undergrad degree, and Jenny had just moved to the big city to become a Research Technician. We both went looking for some kind of musical outlet, and by chance, joined the same two choirs at UofT.

At the first social event for one of the groups, Ian spotted Jenny across the room (eating cheesies), and was bold enough to approach and strike up a conversation. After the cheesies were gone, we made our way to a local pub for dinner with some other group members, but it was immediately obvious that we were more interested in each other than the rest of the group we were with.

That first evening ended with Ian kicking himself for not seizing the opportunity and immediately asking for her number. However, Jenny's later stroke of brilliance revealed that we didn't have to wait until the next rehearsal to talk again. We already had each other's email addresses from the choir's contact list.

And so, later that night, Jenny sent an email asking Ian out on our first "real" date, and the rest is history...
